Retain Our Current Substitute English Teacher

The Issue

We are students grappling with a situation that seems counter intuitive. Our regular English teacher is set to return from leave, but we've found ourselves in a unique situation where our learning experience has dramatically improved while she was away. The substitute teacher who filled in for her is exceptional, making our classroom environment much more conducive to learning.

Our regular English teacher may have seniority and a long tenure, but it's undisputed within our class that the quality of teaching has soared with the introduction of the substitute. He has been a breath of fresh air, introducing innovative approaches to teaching English, making it a much more engaging subject. In contrast, our previous experiences under our regular teacher were riddled with ineffective teaching methods and a hostile learning environment.

Reports from Education Week suggest that a positive and engaging classroom environment can lead to increased student productivity and overall performance (Education Week, 2019). We've seen that elevation in productivity firsthand with our substitute teacher. He's not just 'great' - we can say with assurance that he is GOATED (Greatest Of All Time).

We're not just students signing this petition, but future innovators, thinkers, and leaders whose educational foundation is being laid in this very classroom. The decision that lies ahead impacts more than just the immediate classroom dynamic. It affects our long-term academic trajectory and potentially the success of our future careers.

We respectively urge the school board to give serious consideration to our request: Keep our substitute teacher as the permanent English teacher. Let him continue cultivating fertile minds with his exceptional teaching methods.

Please sign this petition if you believe in quality education and the best interest of the students.
