Every morning, me and my friends start our school day in a health class. Since Mrs. Hughes, a long-term substitute, became our teacher, our days have begun positively. Her teaching style, the atmosphere she creates in class, and the kind of respect she exhibits towards students - everything about her has made our first class of the day an enjoyable one. However, there is a possibility that Mr. Alder plans to return and replace Mrs. Hughes. For us, this would result in negative ramifications, transforming our pleasant mornings into unbearable ones. This replacement would not only upset the students but also detrimentally affect our learning environment.
If we look at the statistics, a positive and conducive learning environment leads to better student performance (Source: National Center for Education Statistics). Evidence also shows that a teacher's style and approach significantly affect a student's interest in a subject (Source: American Psychological Association). Mrs. Hughes has proven to be an excellent health teacher who promotes a supportive learning environment. Her replacement wouldn't be a justified step.
We urge the school administration to consider the impact of their decision on students. Let's keep Mrs. Hughes as our permanent health teacher. We do not want Mr. Alder to come back. Please sign this petition to support, making our mornings, and more importantly, our education experiences better.
