Some of you may have seen recent reports that the local police hub at the Seven Islands Leisure Centre closed at the end of March so we wanted to update you on what is happening.     

The Metropolitan Police have been aware for some time that Seven Islands Leisure Centre is due to close as we move to the brand new Canada Water Leisure Centre, and that they will need to move out of their hub.  

As your local councillors we have had discussions with British Land about offering an alternative hub and they have agreed to make a space in Surrey Quays Shopping Centre available for the Police to use until a permanent hub can be set up.    

Despite support from the Council, our local Safer Neighbourhood Team officers and British Land, regrettably the Metropolitan police have not taken up this offer for an alternative site and we are now at risk of permanently losing our police hub in Rotherhithe.

Community safety is a major concern, and we want to see more of a police presence in the area, so we are incredibly disappointed by the Met in this matter and will continue to liaise with them to find a solution to this. 

We want the police to reverse their decision and take up the option of a hub that has been offered.
