The Issue

Our community of elderly and handicapped residents is facing an unnecessary hardship. As residents of Honaman House in Thompsontown,  PA  many of us rely on the essential service of USPS postal package delivery. Unfortunately, our local post office has ceased delivering packages directly to our building, forcing those of us who are elderly, use wheelchairs, or suffer from chronic health issues to make multiple trips to retrieve our packages.

These trips are not just inconvenient; they pose a significant burden and potential health risk, especially for those without personal means of transportation. Imagine having to traverse routes that are not friendly to wheelchairs or those with mobility challenges, often under harsh weather conditions which could make these trips dangerous. It is disheartening that there appears to be no legal requirement for us to endure this unnecessary struggle.

According to the [relevant postal service regulations or local laws], there should be routine delivery of packages to residential buildings unless there are substantial legal reasons to alter such a service.  Our building has met the compliance guidelines and has been receiving mail without incident from UPS, FEDEX,  and all other delivery companies. Therefore, resumption of USPS delivery should not be an issue.

We kindly urge our local USPS postal authorities and city officials to review this decision and reinstate our USPS package delivery service. Our request not only adheres to legal expectations but upholds the rights of our community to access essential services equitably.

By signing this petition, you add your voice to our plea. Let's restore the dignity and ease of everyday living by ensuring that our packages are delivered directly to our homes. Together, we can persuade our local authorities to act justly for the well-being of all residents.
