Restoring our Lychgate at All Saints Church Orpington
The Issue
Our Lychgate was built in 1879 as a gift from Alfred Brown in memory of his wife Elizabeth. It has served us well for 144 years but is now in a state of disrepair. We are applying for a grant from Bromley Council and in order to have a chance of being successful we need your help in three ways! We need:
- Over 100 signatures on this form.
- To raise an initial sum to show that we are serious in our application.
- Please send your connection (memories and stories) about the lychgate to smasorpington@gmail.com as we need to show how valued the lychgate is by those who have known it over the years.
AND we need to do that by 1 April 2023!
To donate please use the link https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/23008 or post a cheque, payable to All Saints Church, to the Church Office, 44 Bark Hart Road, Orpington, BR6 0QD. Please remember to mark on the reverse of your cheque 'lychgate'.
Orpington has lost many ancient buildings over the years. This year, the town is undergoing even more building and change. We are trying to protect our little piece of history that has witnessed many weddings and other services.
