Our Community, Our Campaign - We Started This, So Now Let's See It Through!

I wanted to share a quick but heartfelt update: I have now formally submitted a request to make a deputation at the Culture and Environment Scrutiny Committee meeting on Monday 14th July, where I hope to speak on behalf of the 729 of us who have signed the petition to restore longer opening hours at Hampstead Cemetery.
Our entirely community-led petition - rooted entirely in local, grassroots support - has clearly helped bring renewed attention to the issue. While Cllr Hardwick raised cemetery access at the March 2023 Scrutiny Committee meeting, both she and Cllr Greenwood have recently become more publicly engaged as the petition has gained visibility and backing. Their support is welcome and we hope it leads to real progress, but it’s important to recognise that this momentum has come directly from the community, and from the hundreds of residents who have spoken up through this campaign.
This campaign remains simple but powerful - just local people standing up for a place that matters to our health, wellbeing, and daily lives. Thank you again for all the signs and shares which make that message heard!
I will keep you posted as soon as I hear back on the deputation request and on the next steps.
Thanks again!
Jill
