Hi guys,
I called the Health Department today about the fecal bacteria that allegedly was present in the water. They had no confirmation or any information on that, and no bacteria has been reported in vicinity. They told me to contact the city, but they neither picked up or returned my calls. FWS also told we they had no reports of any sort of bacteria in the water.
Here's the outline of the events that happened after the petition aired.
Monday 08/15/22 at 10:55pm - petition was posted on local FB groups.
Tuesday 8/16/22 - petition gained over 250 signatures and got a lot of response. The same evening "bacteria" warnings appeared on the beach
Wednesday 8/17/22 - beach was closed for "maintenance" with no one on site
Thursday 8/18/22 - beach was open with bacteria warnings out and a few people still swimming.
Friday 8/19/22 - the swimming area of the beach was closed so people wouldn't be able to swim.
On Friday the city released a report about fecal bacteria, without mentioning the lab that tested, neither providing actual test results. I called the city earlier in the day and specifically asked to provide this information, but they failed to do so. We are waiting for this information.
