While the global elite remained silent during the Grammys, Iran's "blackout" has been replaced by a restricted "whitelisted" internet. Tens of thousands of detained Iranian demonstrators, like Melika Azizi, a young student and protester, are currently held in the "legal black hole" of the Iranian judicial system, and face he regime’s most predatory tactics:
- Isolation: The regime targets young women and students like Melika who have no family to stand up for their rights and be their voice outside.
- The Ghost Trial: With no family to hire a lawyer and no way to alert the world, Melika is facing an expedited "show trial" where state-appointed lawyers work directly for the prosecution.
- Imminent Execution: Melika and thousands like her are being charged with Moharebeh (Waging War Against God) in 5-minute proceedings- a made-up crime that carries a death sentence.
Without a "digital lifeline" to alert the world, her name is being erased before she is even sentenced.
Our Demands to the U.S. Executive Branch:
We, the undersigned, request a “Maximum Pressure" campaign to secure below emergency goals:
- An Execution Moratorium as a "Red Line": Make an immediate, verified halt to all protest-related executions a non-negotiable condition for any continued dialogue with the Iranian regime.
- Sanction the "Kangaroo Courts": Immediately impose Global Magnitsky sanctions on judges and "state lawyers" involved in the summary sentencing of protesters in Kachouii and Evin prisons.
Please Sign & Share this petition to ensure that 21-year-old Melika Azizi and other detained demonstrators are safe from being executed in the dark.
