As a concerned parent residing in Pontypool, Kawartha Lakes, ON, Canada, I am writing this petition to address an urgent matter that affects the safety and well-being of my child. The recent decision made by the school board to relocate the bus stop from my house to a dangerous intersection without any prior communication or consultation is deeply concerning.

My daughter is one of many students who rely on this bus every day. Previously, it was conveniently located right in front of our house, ensuring her safety as she boarded and disembarked from the bus. However, without any notice or explanation, we were shocked to discover that the new stop has been moved to a corner near a busy highway.

This sudden change poses significant risks for my child's safety. The new location poses potential hazards such as increased traffic exposure and limited visibility due to its proximity to a highway. These concerns have been validated by none other than our dedicated bus driver who agrees that this new stop is far from safe.

To rectify this situation and prioritize the well-being of my daughter, we respectfully request that the school board reconsider their decision and restore the original bus stop at my house. By doing so:

1) We ensure that students are not exposed to unnecessary dangers while waiting for their buses.
2) Parents can have peace of mind knowing their children are safely boarding and disembarking near home.
3) Traffic congestion around an already busy intersection can be alleviated.

We understand that changes may sometimes be necessary; however, it is crucial for open communication between all parties involved before implementing such decisions. Unfortunately, in this case, no effort was made by the school board to inform us about these changes or seek feedback from the affected family. 

I urge you all – fellow parents residing in Pontypool, Kawartha Lakes, ON, Canada and friends – to support this petition and demand that the school board rectify their decision. Together, we can ensure the safety of my daughter, the bus driver, and the Education Assistant, by restoring the bus stop to its original location.
