Acellus has always been promoted as a self-paced learning program, allowing students to work at the pace that best fits their abilities and goals. Many families, including mine, chose and pay for this program because of that flexibility. Significantly reducing the weekly step limit takes away the self-paced experience that students were promised and planned around.

For students working toward early graduation, catching up on credits, or starting college this fall, this change could delay important academic plans. Some students have already been accepted to college but are now worried they may not finish high school in time.

Many students also feel that the reduced amount of steps per week is far less than what they would typically complete in a traditional classroom, limiting their ability to make meaningful progress. Some have even expressed concerns that the change is driven by financial motives.

We are paying for a program that was advertised as self-paced, where students who are capable of learning more quickly could do so. We are simply asking Acellus to restore that flexibility and allow students to progress at the pace they are able to achieve.
