Restore paid holidays for Black Friday and Christmas Eve at Asset Living
The Issue
As employees of Asset Living, we have all experienced the difficulty of balancing work with personal commitments, especially around the holidays. Black Friday and Christmas Eve are pivotal times for family and relaxation, yet our company does not currently recognize these as paid holidays. For many of us, this means scrambling for coverage and planning months in advance just to spend time with our loved ones.
In years past, these days were recognized as paid holidays with Lund Living, allowing us to enjoy a long weekend and celebrate the festive season without the stress of unpaid leave. The decision to eliminate these paid holidays has created undue pressure on the staff, as there are limited employees available to cover shifts, resulting in some of us being unable to spend these important days with our families.
The importance of work-life balance cannot be overstated. According to a study by the Harvard Business Review, employees who maintain a healthy balance between their personal and professional lives are over 21% more productive and significantly happier in their jobs. By reinstating Black Friday and Christmas Eve as paid holidays, Asset Living would not only improve employee morale but also their productivity and loyalty to the company.
Reinstituting these holidays can also demonstrate that Asset Living values its employees' well-being and acknowledges their need for family time, especially during the holiday season. This would align Asset Living with over 60% of American companies that provide paid time off on these days, according to the Society for Human Resource Management.
We urge Asset Living to restore Black Friday and Christmas Eve as paid holidays. Doing so would promote a more supportive work environment and recognize the importance of family and personal time during this special part of the year.
Please sign this petition and help us bring about a positive change for all employees at Asset Living. Working together, we can hopefully restore these important holidays to our calendars as paid time off.
