Restore Our Homecoming Dance and Preserve High School Memories

The Issue

Homecoming: a time of camaraderie, celebration, and lasting memories. For us, as high school students, homecoming holds a special place in our hearts and our high school experience. It's more than just a dance, it's a tradition that binds us together, transcends across class years, and embodies the spirit of our school. Recently, our students were informed with very short notice that our homecoming dance was canceled because ticket sales didn't meet an undisclosed deadline. We find this arbitrary decision unfair, and demand the reinstatement of our beloved homecoming dance.

According to the U.S. Department of Education, attending events like the homecoming dance contributes to a positive overall high school experience, which can in turn improve academic results. It essentially provides a sense of belonging that's crucial for students' mental health and well-being (Source: U.S. Department of Education; National Association of School Psychologists).

By signing this petition, we aren't just asking to dance, we're standing up for our right to partake in a meaningful high school tradition. We're elevating our voices to remind those at the helm that our experiences matter, and abrupt changes without clear communication will not be taken lightly. Sign this petition to help us reinstate our homecoming dance and keep our high school memories alive!
