With the start of the illuminations, Derbyshire Dales D.C. who manage the car parks in the village have now started coning off sections of two car parks to be reserved for illuminations staff. The illuminations open at 5.30pm but the car parking is closed from 8am in the morning. It is 15 spaces in the pavilion car park and 25 spaces in Temple Road car park. The pavilion car park being short stay (2 hours max) and the most popular in the village is full from mid morning and we estimate a loss of income during the illuminations of £2025. The Temple Road car park is less popular but is full from around 2pm at the latest - a loss of £3000 in income. Add to this that the pavilion car park is closed completely to be used as a park and ride drop off on fireworks nights in October adds another £850 in lost income - grand total £5875 Add this to the lost income from the coach / car parking area at the station car park in the last two years we make this a grand loss of £79,464!!
