Restore Open Advisories for Clubs at Central High School

The Issue

I am the proud founder of a club at Central High School, which has brought considerable benefits to our participating students. Open Advisories facilitate learning, collaboration, and foster relationships that extend beyond the school day. Regrettably, our club is now useless with the removal of open advisories, a decision that signifies a major setback for our schools vibrant extra-curricular life. Our clubs primarily thrives on morning meetings, as after-school schedules often conflict with other commitments our members have, leaving our club with no feasible meeting time.

Research complementing our experiences at Central High School illustrates the value of such school clubs. They have been shown to foster not only school spirit and enthusiasm but also better academic performance, improved mental health, and enhanced quality of the student body. According to a study by the National Center for Education Statistics, students who participate in extracurricular activities often have higher GPAs, lower absenteeism, and are more likely to aspire to higher education.

This petition seeks the swift restoration of open advisories at Central High School, allowing clubs like ours to reestablish and flourish. By denying us these once-accessible spaces and the accompanying opportunities, we limit the significant potential of our students and diminish the trust between administrators and the student body.

Join us in petitioning for the continued vitality of Central's clubs by reinstating open advisories. By signing, you're advocating for an enhanced educational landscape that augments students' overall development. Please sign this petition to restore open advisories at Central High School.
