In 2022, Morro Bay passed Resolutions 103-22 and 104-22, creating a legal framework for commemorative flag displays and approving the annual flying of the Pride flag during June in honor of Pride Month. These resolutions were not just about flags—they were about values.

On 05/13/2025 the City Council voted unanimously to repeal these resolutions, ignoring the public’s clear support for keeping them. This decision sends a harmful message that LGBTQ+ residents and allies are no longer represented or respected in our city government.

Flying the Pride flag is a symbol of unity, belonging, and progress. Repealing these resolutions is not an act of neutrality—it is an act of exclusion.

We, the undersigned, call on the Morro Bay City Council to:

Reinstate Resolutions 103-22 and 104-22
Restore the Pride flag display during Pride Month
Reaffirm the city’s commitment to equality, inclusion, and representation
Let Morro Bay continue to be a place where everyone belongs.
