The Issue

The Department of Health and Human Services cut $2 billion from a program that supports vaccines for vulnerable children. This forced public health departments to lay off staff and cancel clinics across the country.

It’s catastrophic -- it will impact every aspect of immunization: community outreach, education, health fairs, mobile clinics and public health nurses", said Claire Hannan, executive director of the Association of Immunization Managers, to NBC News.

More than $2 billion was taken from “Immunization and Vaccines for Children” grants, which support the delivery of vaccines to children whose families may not be able to afford them, according to a list HHS published.

The truth is simple: vaccines save lives.

They prevent outbreaks, protect communities, and keep children safe from dangerous — and preventable — diseases like measles, for example.

Backed by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the cuts put the health and safety of millions of vulnerable kids at risk.

Cutting funding for these lifesaving protections will hit underserved communities the hardest, deepening health disparities and leaving children needlessly exposed to illness.

We call on Congress and the Department of Health and Human Services to immediately restore funding for childhood vaccines and reject dangerous rhetoric that undermines public health.

Protect kids. Restore vaccine access. Sign now.
