We, as passionate fans of AFL, are the heart of the game's sustainability. The Saturday night game—once a simple pleasure available for everyone—is now out of reach for many around Victoria. Many memories have been built around those nights, shared between parents, children, and friends. AFL games are not just games; they are social events, part of our Australian heritage, uniting us around a shared love. 

We are not corporate VIPs but everyday hard-working families and individuals. We grew up with footy—it's imprinted in our souls, provides a sense of belonging, and fosters a community spirit. Yet, numerous regular supporters are cut off from experiencing this joy due to the necessity of a paid subscription to view the Saturday night games. The cost-of-living crisis is all too real for us, and the added expense of subscription TV is becoming a luxury many cannot afford.

This is why we implore the AFL to reconsider their decision and amend the broadcasting deal. Providing access to free-to-air Saturday night games is more than catering to fans—it's considering the long-term health and accessibility of our beloved game. It's not solely the wealthy who fund and support this league; the real power comes from the die-hard supporters who live week by week, relying on the joy that footy brings into their lives. For the love of footy, for the love of our community, and for the future of our great game.
