Restore Disability Assistance for Needy Individuals

The Issue

Our lives are marred by hardship each day. My wife is battling with Schizophrenia, a long-term mental disorder involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior, leading to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, besides withdrawal from reality. I, on the other hand, have been suffering from arthritis of the spine and spondylitis, which have significantly limited my mobility and ability to perform daily tasks. We, just like many like us, profoundly depended on the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to ease the financial pressure off of our shoulders. However, it has been taken away from us, leaving us in an unbearable state.

Each day, countless individuals dealing with critical health conditions have their PIP disability taken away from them, which is a blight on our societal framework. According to the Department for Work and Pensions, around 3.7 million Disability Living Allowance (DLA) claimants are reassessed for PIP since 2013. Out of these, 46% are awarded less money, and 23% lose their benefit altogether (source: Disability Rights UK).

The removal of the PIP disability is not just a financial or statistical issue; it is a matter threatening our wellbeing and survival. We implore the relevant authorities to revisit this matter seriously. Reinstate the PIP disability for us and everyone who is suffering, to enable us to lead better, dignified lives. This 8fight is not just ours, it's for everyone who has been affected by such severe decisions.

Please, help us bring about a real change. Grant us the aid we need and rightfully deserve, sign this petition today.
