Please note the following update on the petition - the petition has included specific detailed required steps necessary to guide the City towards Restoring Dinghy Beach legally and to insure its return to the public. The survey (#2) is underway already with a resolution that was sponsored by Vice Mayor/Commissioner Sam Kaufman and due to be completed and submitted in March 2022.

Please forward to help get us get to 730 signatures - one for every day the fence has stayed up blocking the public's access to Dinghy Beach!

Thank you for your continued support to Restore Dinghy Beach!!!

We, the undersigned, hereby request the City of Key West:

1.) Obtain a corrective Quit Claim Deed from FDOT that clarifies that the 2018 transfer was meant to expressly reserve the area known as “Dinghy Beach” from the conveyance;

2.) Obtain a new riprarian line survey;

3.) Restore Dinghy Beach, at a minimum, to its 2019, pre-fenced off historic use boundary, established since the 1970’s as a public beach, requiring Marriott Beachside/Robert Spottswood/SH5’s illegal fence be removed;

4.) Deny Marriott Beachside/Robert Spottswood/SH5’s application for an easement of any part of Dinghy Beach/waterfront area deemed as belonging to the City;

5.) Respect this waterfront pocket park with any appropriate access area required for prescriptive easement, as mandated by Florida State Laws 161.55 and 161.053, if required; and

6.) Place recycling and trash containers, an official sign with the beach’s name and rules (with dogs allowed) and allow one 2-bike artistic bicycle rack near the location to provide the same standard and amenities given other similar, already established, City of Key West pocket parks
