Restore CTV News - "Live at 5" to its Original One Hour Format

The Issue

I, like many others in Atlantic, Nova Scotia, have been loyal viewers of "CTV News Atlantic at 5” since it first aired in 1982. We've seen the evolution of our local news from rabbit ears out of Moncton to the present day. However, recent changes have left us feeling disconnected and disappointed. CTV has shifted its focus from our beloved Atlantic content news stories to a format that mirrors global networks like CNN.

We miss "Live at 5". The show was more than just a news program; it was a reflection of our community and culture. It brought us closer together through sweet little Maritimer' backyard stories that we all could relate to and cherish.

Unfortunately, these unique local narratives have been replaced with generic world news that we can easily access on other channels or online platforms. We yearn for the return of our authentic Atlantic broadcasts which highlighted issues pertinent to us as Maritimers.

Therefore, we are calling on CTV News management to restore "Live at 5" back to its original one-hour format focused on Atlantic content news stories. This is not just about preserving a tradition; it's about maintaining an essential platform for local voices and perspectives that are often overlooked by mainstream media outlets.

Please join me in this cause by signing this petition and let's bring back our "Live at 5".
