The Issue

Charlotte’s skyline means something to us. It’s part of our city’s identity — the backdrop to our daily lives, the symbol of our growth and character.

That’s why so many of us were disappointed to see Wells Fargo’s massive new sign plastered across the Duke Energy Tower. It’s not just the bright red letters — it’s the feeling that one of our city’s most elegant buildings was turned into an ad without asking how it would affect the look of Charlotte itself.

People across Charlotte are speaking up: the sign is tacky, out of place, and doesn’t reflect the kind of city we’re building together. It cheapens a skyline that we’ve taken pride in for decades.

We’re asking city leaders and property stakeholders to work with Wells Fargo to remove the signage and preserve the visual integrity of our skyline. Charlotte deserves better than this. Let’s keep our skyline something we’re proud of — not something we have to explain away.

Wells Fargo’s red sign ruined Charlotte’s skyline. Demand they take it down and restore our city’s view. Sign now.
