Since the cessation of AC Transit's M line bus service in 2021, traffic has gotten progressively worse on the San Mateo Bridge. While it's understandable that bus service across the bridge had to be paused during the COVID pandemic, that time has long since passed. AC Transit continues to operate bus service across the Dumbarton Bridge via the DB line, and operates several buses across the Bay Bridge such as the NL line, but offers no bus lines across the San Mateo Bridge. In fact, as of 2026, there is no public transit at all across the San Mateo Bridge.

Speaking from my own personal experience, the cessation of the M line bus has compelled me to spend thousands of dollars on the purchase of a car which I would not otherwise need, in order to make my daily work commute feasible. I now have to drive in unbearable rush hour traffic across the bridge in order to get home in time to care for my loved ones. Even worse, the lack of bus service is preventing too many hard working commuters who are unable to drive or unable to afford a car from crossing the bridge.

Enough is enough! Bay Area commuters want:

• Less traffic
• Fewer accidents
• More affordable commutes
• Lower C02 emissions
• More available parking on both sides of the bridge

It's time to tell AC Transit
