Restore Banks Park
The Issue
Mrs Jesse Banks donated the land in 1965 in honor of her father Thomas Banks. Her intention was for it to be a park full of trees for children to play in and for public use only. It was never her intention to be turned into what it has become today. The city cut down trees which she was definitely 100% against they have built a building where they charge $100 per hour for people to use it. Now there is even a fire station built on it. We and I'm talking all of Gadsden Alabama want it returned to what Mrs. Banks intended it to be. A park free for everyone to enjoy young and old alike. Not to be used by the greedy city managers to make money and to destroy what she envisioned in the very beginning when she donated it to the "community"of South Gadsden. We humbly request that you sign this petition that will be presented to the state of Alabama, and also to the city of Gadsden Alabama. Follow the link below and you will see or hear the dedication in 1965. And this will let you know that it was never intended to be what the city has done to it as of today.
