Petition updateElephant Massacres in Botswana; Restore Anti-Poaching Unit and End Elephant HuntingCall to Action: Please call the Botswana Embassy in Washington D.C.

President Masisi and the government of Botswana have yet to respond nor comment to the 235,000 plus signatures asking for anti-poaching units to be restored.

 At this time, I urge you to call or email the Embassy of Botswana in Washington. D. C., and ask to restore the anti-poaching units. This will help elicit a response from the government to the tragic loss of elephants near the Okavango Delta wildlife sanctuary. A sanctuary is meant to be a place of refuge or safety for the wildlife and without anti-poaching units, the term sanctuary no longer applies.

Your help, support, and voice is critical in order for any change to be made to aid in the protections of the elephant population in Botswana.

Here is a sample email you can use;

In September, I signed a petition to the government of Botswana to restore anti-poaching units after many elephants were found dead near the Okavango Delta wildlife sanctuary. President Masisi deactivated the anti-poaching units earlier in May. Unfortunately, Botswana was a safe haven for elephants and even elephants from other countries were migrating there for refuge.

Currently there are 233,000 plus signatures on this petitionhttps://www.change.org/p/president-mokgweetsi-masisi-restore-anti-poaching-units-to-prevent-future-elephant-poaching-in-botswana

People are asking for improved protections for the elephants, yet not a single response has been elicited by the government of Botswana.

As you are aware, the wildlife in Botswana generate tourism revenue to aid the country in health care initiatives and funding for education. It is fair to say the wildlife is a critical component of the economy of Botswana. To aid in their protection, can only safeguard the future economy of Botswana.

I am asking for your help to inquire if and hopefully when the anti-poaching units will be restored. It is my hope that the elephants and other wildlife will have a bright future in the country of Botswana.
