Restore and Reopen the Beloved Holden Beach Fishing Pier
The Issue
The Holden Beach Fishing Pier has been an integral part of the Holden Beach Community since 1959. This beloved landmark not only serves as a hub for recreational activities but also contributes significantly to the local economy by attracting people who love to fish.
However, in recent years, we have seen this iconic pier fall into disrepair. It's heartbreaking to see such an important part of our community neglected. The pier is not just a structure; it's a symbol of our shared history and love for the beach.
By restoring, reviving, and reopening the Holden Beach Fishing Pier, we can ensure that future generations can enjoy this beautiful location just as we have.
It was our understanding that the pier had been saved when the Town of Holden Beach purchased the pier in 2022. An election cycle has since come and gone and the newly elected commissioners have included demolition as a viable option going forward for the future of the Holden Beach Fishing Pier.
We stand against the destruction of the Holden Beach Fishing Pier without the Commissioners of Holden Beach approving a fully funded plan to replace.
Based on their action, we have resurrected the "Save the Pier" campaign and we are collecting signatures to present to the Town. There is a February 29th public input meeting scheduled at Town Hall and we would like to deliver 1,000 signatures at that time.

The Bass family has created a nostalgic piece of history in this small coastal town called Holden Beach. Continual maintenance can be observed as you walk down the pier, with more needed each passing year. The pier is both iconic and useful, historical and modern, simple yet transcendent. We look forward to families spending their days at the beach, creating memories with the pier standing tall in the background.

The Holden Beach Community Alliance has created a fundraising campaign opportunity for the restoration and ongoing maintenance of the Holden Beach Fishing Pier. In 2024, the HBCA will launch its' inaugural fundraising campaign for the restoration work needed on the pier. We ask that you partner with us to bring life back to the Holden Beach Fishing Pier. Don't make any contributions now!!! Look for our first fundraiser to Restore in 2024.
