The Issue

We, the residents of Oak Grove/Echo Woods in DeKalb County, are calling on county leadership to restore and maintain the park space formerly connected to Globe Academy's Lower Campus - Charles McDaniel Park located at 2225 Heritage Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30345. This park was once a vibrant and safe gathering place for children, families, and neighbors. Since the school’s closure, however, the playground has been removed, trash cans are overflowing, and the grounds are neglected. The result is that one of our community’s most valuable outdoor spaces has become unusable. We believe our community deserves better. Parks are essential for keeping children active, providing safe spaces for families, and building strong neighborhoods. We are asking DeKalb County to: Restore the park grounds and provide regular maintenance.
Install new playground equipment and family-friendly amenities.
Designate ongoing oversight to keep the park clean, safe, and functional.
Our neighborhood is one of the highest-taxed in DeKalb County. The residents deserve access to a safe and welcoming park where our children can play and families can gather. Please join us in signing this petition to urge county leadership to take immediate action to restore this essential community resource.
