As someone who felt compelled to sign the Restore Island Rail’s petition, you know better than most how important our rail corridor is to the Island’s future. I know the island rail corridor has taken some lumps in the news lately, but I’ve been assured that nothing about our railway is as simple as it seems, and that it’s not over yet.

My 3-year journey of advocating for our railway as an individual is coming to an end, it’s time to include others. What’s taking shape now is something that could change the scene with renewed energy and a broader mandate with a laser focus and more people power.

The more people we have on the ground engaging directly with residents, the better.

As you likely know, we need a chorus of voices spreading the word. It seems that every other form of transit has a lobby group: car lobbies, bus lobbies, and lobbies for biking and walking.  We are the rail lobby on Vancouver Island, we’re it! So, help us be as effective as possible.

We started the Restore Island Rail Society to take everything we’ve all worked for over the years and push it forward with a renewed focus, energy, and purpose. Our goal is clear: bring the Vancouver Island Railway back for passenger, freight, tourism with multi-use pathways alongside to improve island life.
