When BC joined Confederation, a railway was the promise that tied us to Canada. For Vancouver Island, that promise was the E&N Railway. It was meant to run in perpetuity. Help us hold them to it! 

Now, as Ottawa prepares to spend over half a trillion dollars on nation-building infrastructure including Ports, Rail, and Pipelines, the question is will the Island Railway, a Confederation commitment and a sustainable link for our communities, finally be restored?

Every single municipality has endorsed the railway in the past through the Union of BC Municipalities and the Association of Vancouver Island and Coastal Communities.  Business groups all over the island like the Vancouver Island Economic Alliance have recognized the need to restore this essential asset for Vancouver Island's future. 

Why hasn't the Provincial and Federal Government funded this shovel ready project?

We will continue to press for what was promised in the late 1800's and then again in 2006 when we bought the railway from the private rail companies.
