Why is 7559 signatures on the HOC Petition to Restore Vancouver Island Rail significant?

The House of Commons Petition ran between September 13, 2023, at 1:25 p.m. (EDT) and January 11, 2024, at 1:25 p.m. (EDT) for a total of 120 days.

For 118 of those days there was no big media coverage. It was just a website, a Facebook and Instagram page and my personal X and LinkedIn accounts. All the advocation was grass roots. 

On the last day after coverage on Chek News and a French Article by CBC, the petition numbers jumped by 960 before closing. Had their been media coverage earlier, this number would be much higher.

I know the next milestone for the Change Petition is 7500, but I'm going to move that bar to 7559 when it catches back up to the HOC Petition.
