Petition to Reinstate Eric V. Harwell as Counselor for District 144

We need your support in signing and sharing an important Prairie Hills community petition. We are calling for the reinstatement of Eric V. Harwell as the Tier III Behavior Interventionist, Tier III Coordinator, and Mental Health Counselor for District 144.

For over 20 years, Eric V. Harwell served the district. He was fired by the former superintendent a year ago, and the Board of Education recently terminated that superintendent for the misappropriation of $17 million in district funds.

Eric not only served students, but entire families—often stepping in during moments of crisis, supporting reunification efforts for missing children and runaways, and continuing to show up for families long after his official role required it. His work has always gone beyond a job title. It has been rooted in care, trust, and a deep commitment to the people of District 144.

We believe our students and families deserve access to experienced, compassionate, and community-centered counseling support. This petition is the first step in using our collective voice to advocate for what we believe is right.
