Jaws (1975) – Restore and Release the Two Major Deleted Scenes Clearly Showing the Shark

Two iconic sequences were removed from the final cut: the death of Alex Kintner and the estuary attack (where a man loses his leg). These shots provided a particularly graphic and terrifying view of the shark. Steven Spielberg removed them, judging them too frightening for 1975 audiences and favoring suggestion over explicit imagery. Nearly 50 years later, audiences have evolved, and curiosity prevails: fans simply want to see these scenes, however intense they may be. We request their full restoration and inclusion as bonus deleted scenes on future home video releases.

Jaws 2 (1978) – Recover John D. Hancock’s Footage and Produce a Director’s Cut

Before Jeannot Szwarc took over, John D. Hancock shot several weeks of footage with a darker, more serious tone closer to the original film’s spirit. Almost all of this material was discarded. For decades, fans have hoped to rediscover this alternate vision. If the footage still exists in Universal’s archives, we request its restoration and, if needed, the production of connecting shots to create a true, coherent director’s cut that honors this undervalued approach.

Jaws 3-D (1983) – Restore a Version Close to the Workprint with Reintegrated Scenes and Enhanced John Williams Score

The third film suffered significant post-production cuts: deleted scenes, rushed 3D effects, shortened runtime, and a diluted score. Leaked workprint excerpts reveal a longer, more serious version with better pacing and temporary use of iconic John Williams themes from the first two films, lending far greater dramatic power to key sequences. We request a faithful restoration of this early cut—in high definition, with deleted scenes reintegrated and stronger incorporation of John Williams’ music—while removing overly campy elements (such as the floating arm). This could elevate the often-criticized film into a worthy entry in the franchise.

These forgotten elements represent invaluable cinematic heritage. Their official release would allow current and future generations to experience the saga in its richest and most authentic form. We urge Universal Pictures to explore its archives, restore these treasures, and finally share them with the dedicated fans who have waited decades.
