With the current economic meltdown due to COVID-19, Restaurants are bleeding and many are going to close down sooner or later. One of the main factors for any restaurant business is the RENT of their business place (generally it is over 30-35% of their monthly fixed expense) and hence it plays a major role.

Although to most of the laymen, restaurant business sound profitable, the original scenario is different - it is a very difficult business and less than 30% of new restaurants survive during normal days, specially because over 90% of restaurants are rented across India (and not owned)

The effect of COVID 19 on restaurants will result in huge impact on restaurateurs, staff and their vendors with a possibility of closing down of many restaurants & unemployment of their staffs

Hence, on behalf of over 6 lac restaurateurs, 40 lac restaurant staff, vendors, people related to food business & their families, we appeal to Govt of India & Premise Owners to consider the situation and give moratorium on the rents till the time the restaurants are back to work again.
