We pledge not to patronize gay-owned businesses that support anti-gay politicians or organizations in any way whatsoever.
The Issue
In light of Ian Reisner's calling gay people "cheap" and "entitled" during his failed attempt to justify co-hosting with Mati Weiderpass a fundraising reception for anti-gay Senator and GOP presidential candidate, Ted Cruz, just months after hosting another fundraising event for anti-gay Republican Senator Ron Johnson, we ask that you pledge not to patronize any businesses owned in part or in whole by Reisner and/or Weiderpass.
Gay owned and/or gay operated businesses should not in any way support anti-gay politicians or anti-gay efforts, no matter what their rationale for doing so may be. The LGBT community has worked too hard and has sacrificed so much not to be put in a position in which members of its own community -- who make money serving it! -- are actively negating our basic rights in addition to our general wellbeing.
Please pledge not to patronize any of these businesses, as well as to inform those who continue to patronize such businesses of where their money is going toward.
