CANCEL OCT/NOV CIES, AWARD EXPECTED GRADES

The Issue

The COVID-19 situation in Pakistan is not over yet, and everyday hundreds of cases are still being recorded. Cambridge had postponed the May/June session for the CAIEs due to spread of the Corona Virus and scheduled it in October. However, the virus is still around, and is infecting 800 people on an average each day. In this situation, it is extremely dangerous to proceed with the October/November session because not only is there a chance for the virus to infect the candidates appearing for the exams, there is also a very high risk of the virus spreading again, as it hasn't ended yet.

The Candidates demand that the October/November session be cancelled and instead of proceeding with the examinations, Cambridge should award expected grades to the students. Recently, Cambridge said that they would award fair grades to everyone who had opted for the expected grades procedure and would not award lesser than the grades which were given by the schools. Therefore, the candidates demand Cambridge to cancel the October November session as we have an alternative procedure already (expected grades) and proceed with that instead.

If Cambridge believes that the examinations are worth more than the students' lives, then they may go ahead with the October November session, but, they should keep in mind that they would be KNOWINGLY putting the lives of thousands of students at stake.

To conclude everything, in light of the COVID-19 situation, our demand to the Government of Pakistan and CAIE is to cancel the October November session, and apply the expected grades procedure instead.
