This petition reflects the concerns of many Christian families who wish to make informed, conscientious decisions about their children’s health, while remaining faithful to the Church’s teachings.

We, the undersigned, respectfully urge the Diocese of Charleston to reinstate religious and conscientious vaccine exemptions for families enrolling children in Catholic schools.

Catholic teaching affirms the primacy of conscience and the right of parents to make medical decisions in line with their faith. Many Protestant schools in South Carolina already honor religious exemptions, yet our Catholic schools have adopted a more restrictive policy. As faithful members of the Church, we ask that our religious liberty and parental rights be respected in accordance with the principles of freedom of conscience upheld by the Catholic Church.
