I have completed every Fable game to 100%, including the original release on the OG Xbox. Fable has always held a special place in my heart; it is the series that truly sparked my passion for gaming. With a new Fable title on the horizon, it is frustrating that Fable Anniversary remains the only entry in the series that can longer be fully completed, due to a single achievement being permanently unobtainable through no fault of the player.

This petition concerns the achievement “See the Future” in Fable Anniversary, which became unobtainable following the retirement of Xbox SmartGlass, a first-party companion service discontinued by Microsoft. Unlike the vast majority of achievements, “See the Future” is neither skill-based nor competitively server-dependent and cannot be earned through gameplay, mastery, or persistence. Even players who fully own the game—still widely available for purchase—and who complete all in-game content are left with an incomplete achievement list due solely to an external dependency that no longer exists.

It is understood that addressing legacy achievements can raise concerns about wider precedent. However, this case is structurally distinct. The unobtainability of “See the Future” is not the result of player performance, community participation, or historical challenge conditions, but instead stems directly from the retirement of a Microsoft-owned feature unrelated to gameplay. As such, this represents a rare and narrowly scoped case where a small platform-level intervention could restore fairness and coherence without reopening broader achievement policies.

We respectfully ask Microsoft to acknowledge this unique situation and consider a solution—such as marking the achievement as completed or otherwise resolving its status—to ensure that Fable Anniversary can be completed in full, as the rest of the series already can. As the franchise enters a new chapter, this would be a meaningful step toward preserving the legacy and integrity of one of Xbox’s most beloved worlds.
