I am a member of the community living on Anthony Road who has seen firsthand the extensive damage and disturbance caused by the persistent flooding issue. The poor drainage in our area is causing constant inconvenience and even potential danger. This situation not only prevents safe driving, but also often traps people in our neighborhood due to impassable streets.

A major contributing factor is the negligent behavior of some neighbors who continue to abuse the surrounding wetlands. This misuse results in additional water overflow and exacerbates flooding. And the worst part is, all of this could be prevented with better infrastructure and stricter regulations.

According to the recent survey by Climate Central, about 300,000 homes in the U.S could be lost to coastal flooding within the next 30 years (Climate Central, 2020). And while our issue may seem localized, it's a part of a larger trend that highlights significant gaps in how we manage our water systems.

It's time we address this serious issue and improve conditions on Anthony Road for the safety and well-being of our community. We need immediate intervention from the local authorities to repair and upgrade the drainage system, enforce necessary regulations to protect our wetlands, and thereby prevent future flooding issues.
