The writers of the Resolution AGAINST Predatory Gambling, and the sponsors of it, the Bexar Conservative Board and members, appreciate the support for 3 of our Resolutions last night.  Please don't stop sharing our Resolution through this petition or talking about the points in our many objections made against expanded casino gambling.

Unfortunately, we were not able to VOTE on our Resolution as presented to the BC GOP.  The Resolution will need to be presented in a future CEC meeting.   It is unfortunate for several reasons:

1)  The BC GOP could have collectively sent a strong message to the Austin Legislature that we support our RPT platform and State Constitution, as is.

We do not desire to change those principles, values, and positions for a gambling corporation like Las Vegas Sands.  Even while our GOP legislators are being inundated by lobbyist sales tactics, swayed by campaign donations to pass a bill to legalize comprehensive gambling.

Yes, three Republican representatives in Austin have proposed expanded casino gambling, table games, slot machines, horse/dog racing, sports betting and online sports betting.  There is one actual SB17 bill, the rest are resolutions we could STOP cold and make sure they are not reintroduced in another session.

2. Rather than passing our anti-gambling Resolution successfully and moving on to the next battle...the very important Justice Charter...because of parliamentary rule changes and motions made last night, we are now forced to split our time and effort between an eventual Anti-gambling resolution VOTE and campaigning against the Justice Charter issue.

These types of unnecessary delays and distractions are why we in Bexar County GOP are not able to collectively focus on achieving success.

Please continue to share our petition to Bexar County voters and Precinct Chairs!

Please continue to talk to your friends and neighbors about the history of ills experienced from legalizing expanded casino gambling in cities and states across the country.
