Demand for the Resignation of Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto for Endangering Public Safety.

We, the citizens of Victoria, are calling for the immediate resignation of Mayor Marianne Alto due to her recent actions that have jeopardized public safety and demonstrated a disregard for the well-being of our community.
Recently, a dedicated firefighter and father, Josh Montgomery, was unjustly suspended after expressing his concerns about the relocation of an unregulated drug consumption site into a residential neighborhood. His letter highlighted the escalating violence, including an incident where a paramedic was attacked and a group of 60 unhoused individuals swarmed emergency responders. These events, coupled with the lack of public consultation on the decision to relocate the site, have raised serious concerns among residents and first responders alike.
Mayor Altos decision to suspend a public servant for voicing legitimate safety concerns, combined with the lack of transparency and disregard for community input, is unacceptable.
We demand the immediate resignation of Mayor Alto for the following reasons:
- Endangerment of Public Safety: The decision to relocate the drug consumption site without adequate safety measures or public consultation has led to an increase in violence and danger in our community.
- Retaliation Against a Public Servant: The suspension of Josh Montgomery for expressing concerns about public safety is an act of retaliation and suppresses the voices of those who work to protect our community.
- Failure to Lead: Mayor Alto has failed to address the concerns of residents and first responders, demonstrating a lack of leadership and accountability.
