“Tiny Homes" and/or "Tiny Homes on Wheels” are currently not recognized as an acceptable legal form of permanent dwelling in the County of San Diego. Our community is facing an expensive housing market with a critical shortage of affordable housing. Tiny homes can serve as an alternative housing solution to address this real problem. It is not a one-size-fits-all approach, but rather an additional methodology to help address and resolve the homelessness and housing crisis facing current and future residents of San Diego County.

We, the undersigned, hereby state our support of efforts to codify “Tiny Houses" and "Tiny Homes on Wheels,” within the County of San Diego, as legal dwelling units.

For the purpose of this petition, tiny homes are defined as self-contained housing units under 400 square feet. Despite its small size, each home has a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping space and living room thanks to advances in smart design.
