Due to the most recent budget crisis, the City of Peoria is proposing the closure of fire station 20. Fire Station 20 is the only fire station in the far north end of Peoria and currently have the worst fire/EMS response times in the City. The City of Peoria has been aware of a lack of fire/EMS coverage in the north end of Peoria ever since a study was conducted in 2004, that actually recommended the need for an additional fire station on Rt. 91.

Furthermore, fire station 20 is staffed with a paramedic at all times. It is absolutely unsafe to wait 3-5 minutes longer for a response from a fire station on Detweiller or 4-8 minutes longer from a station on Northmoor. As everyone knows, a fire double’s in size every 60-90 seconds and with any medical emergency time is of the essence. -Lets make it clear that the City of Peoria will NOT balance the budget at the expense of the most unprotected area in Peoria... And NO you won’t notice a reduction on your tax bill after the City of Peoria decommission’s our fire station. Please sign and spread the word-Thank you!
