Residents, Taxpayers & Business Owners say YES to Community Housing but NO to Bluebird.

The Issue

Residents, Taxpayers & Business Owners of Ketchum say YES to community housing but NO to BLUEBIRD VILLAGE.

Those participating in this petition are for community/affordable housing but do not believe Bluebird Village is the right solution.  We urge our City officials to say NO to Bluebird.

Bluebird is too big.  At 52’ before the addition of solar panels, this building will be the tallest and most massive building in Ketchum’s community core. Bluebird will dominate the surrounding buildings to the detriment of the objective to retain Ketchum’s small-town character.

Bluebird is in the wrong place and will change Ketchum’s retail core forever.  Bluebrid could potentially add 150 or more residents and up to 110 cars to the retail area.  Parking will become even a bigger nightmare than it is now, which will directly affect Ketchum’s retailers.

Bluebird is bad financially for Ketchum, up to $10,000,000 of taxpayer dollars will be used to subsidize this project which will be primarily owned by a for-profit, out-of-state developer.  This includes valuable land owned by the residents of Ketchum.

We, the residents, taxpayers and business owners of Ketchum, believe there are better options for this land if applied differently. We believe that integrating community/affordable housing into the Ketchum community at large is the better choice instead of concentrating it on one massive, taxpayer-funded project.

This isn’t a choice between Bluebird Village and no affordable housing.

This is a choice between preserving or destroying downtown Ketchum.
