Remove the MTA 180-foot (18 story) cell tower from Tarrytown

The Issue

  1. The MTA cell tower does not comply with Tarrytown building and zoning codes.
  2. It endangers residents of the Franklin Courts affordable housing apartments. If it were to fall, it could crush residents in the 40 units within the tower's 150-foot "fall zone." 
  3. A children's playground is only 30 feet away putting them at serious risk.
  4. Falling winter ice threatens all people in its immediate area.
  5. It will affect real estate values causing significant losses for a substantial number of homeowners.
  6. The 18-story monstrosity is an eyesore and blight on the Village of Tarrytown.
  7. It ruins the Hudson River views from a number of vantage points in the village.
  8. Could have adverse health effects on hundreds of residents.
  9. Tarrytowners were unaware it was being put up and had no opportunity to voice their concerns and opinions.
  10. Surely other sites could serve the MTA and Tarrytown better.
