Residents of Revere Local School district against Lifewise Academy

Residents of Revere Local School district against Lifewise Academy
The Issue
We have created this petition for all community members of Revere Local School District to have the opportunity to have their voices heard in opposition of Lifewise entering our district. We value diversity within our schools and community. Lifewise is an organization that has spent a great deal of money and time to get into schools to teach religious instruction.
Besides the disruptions to the teachers/staff/students and overall flow of the day that would occur by having groups of students leaving the school once a week for nonacademic purposes, we also have larger concerns of bullying, manipulation, and religious harassment of the students.
We understand that Lifewise is an option, and families can choose that their kids do not participate. However, they will still be influenced by those who do, based on Lifewise's own philosophy. With literature from Lifewise it is clear that peer to peer recruitment is a big push. We think that it is extremely inappropriate for them to send back pamphlets and offer kids candy and prizes if they can get other kids to come too.
Peer pressure is powerful. Our children have the right to be free from religious indoctrination at their public school. Bringing Lifewise into our schools would create unnecessary distinctions between students. We have many faiths and beliefs in our district and to have students approaching any and all students trying to get them to come will result in harassment and bullying as it has in other districts.
This petition is specifically opposing Lifewise. Please sign and share. Please also email the Board of Education and the Superintendent, Michael Tefs. We also encourage you to attend the next board meeting on May 21st at 5:30 pm to have your voice heard.
Please share with anyone residing in the Revere local school district
Looking forward, changes are needed within our current school board.
Please join us to help make a difference
