The Philippines is known for a great diversity of its resources. Its forests, mountains, and seas are teaming with animals of various species. In ancient times, Filipinos had admired nature and respected our fellow animal brethren. However, as the years gone by, the once feeling of respect is now replaced by that of greed and malicious intentions. They have become abusive and manipulative to the animals to an alarming degree that it became morally wrong and the cases of it have been increasing by the day.

Animals, in a way, are abundant with their birth rates up to five to ten per birth, in the wild or in urban areas, so people see them as cheap and dispensable objects to use for their various purposes. Recently, the Philippines has become a member of this loop of abusers.  Escalating cases of animal abuse made the country infamous in the world.

It is an undeniable fact that violence is ever-present in Philippine society. Also, it is still a fact that the number of cases involving it is still increasing as time goes on and has no signs of stopping. So the best course of action in order to stop it is to prevent it and what better way than to way to start with  animals Respect to the smallest creatures is already a positive start against violence because if we can apply moral values to them then what more to society. All in all, we should respect the rights of all the animals in the world. Firstly, because animals are equal to everything else because all of us are living things; the only difference is species. Second, because there is no power in this world that makes one animal superior to another, other than evolution. Lastly, an animal can never do something to deserve physical abuse.
