From the August 2, 2021 Eagle Lake City Council meeting:
Following the July 12, 2021 City Council meeting, a conference call was held with legal counsel and the
developer and the developer’s team to discuss what is required by the City and next steps. The developer
and his team were advised that the process so outlined in Minnesota Rules 4410 will be followed, meaning
that the same timelines and process should be adhered to as if this was a new EAW, with the exception that
it will be limited to the remand issues and referred to as a “supplement to the EAW”. The process is not
intended to revisit the entire EAW, but rather to focus on the two narrow issues outlined by the Court of
Appeals: 1) The project’s potential effects on wildlife; and 2) The project’s cumulative effects on climate change.
When this supplement is released, there will again be a 30 day comment period. During this time residents can submit comments in response the the information included in this supplement. Agencies such as the DNR, Blue Earth County, MPCA, etc. will be able to submit comments as well.
We have yet to see an recent layout or plan of the proposed project, but discussions in a previous meeting the developer participated in indicate changes not initially proposed for public review.
Eagle Lake City Council meetings are the first Monday of every month (on the 13th this month due to Labor Day) at 6pm, in City Hall. They can also be viewed live (and afterwards) on the city's YouTube channel.
