In 1998, over 40 acres of natural, undeveloped property was given to the City of Duncanville, Texas for, "education, cultural, and artistic purposes". The spirit behind the gift was to give something to the community for the enjoyment and enrichment of the whole community. Today, in 2021, the Ladd Preservation Advocacy endeavors to realize a shared vision of establishing a nature preserve that serves the purposes of 1) maintaining the natural beauty of the land, 2) preserving the native plants that grow on the property, 3) maintaining a sanctuary for wildlife, 4) serving as an opportunity for environmental education, 5) developing a trail system and integrating various education, cultural, and artistic features into the natural state of the property. A nature preserve in Duncanville will increase quality of life in our city, preserve the natural beauty of the area, and serve as a sanctuary and escape for Duncanville residents from the modern, developed world.
