Chickens are fun to have as pets. They are social and friendly .Chickens (hens) are small and easily cared for and are a great source of fresh eggs and comfort for backyard hobbyists. They can also be a source of diversion and comfort for many human beings. Many cities allow for up to six hens in the backyard setting. HENS ONLY. Currently, Brownstown Township has an ordinance number 141 article 11 section 11:02 which discusses farms, farming, and boarding of horses with reference to "other domestic animals". Building and ordinance department are using this ordinance as rationale for not allowing residents to have pet hens. Why not allow pet hens but allow other potentially harmful animals to be kept a pets? This is the purpose of our petition . We think we should have the right to choose to have up to six hens as pets , just like other surrounding cities . These animals are used as emotional support , diversion and many other unharmful reasons. Many surrounding cities allow residents to have up to 6 hens , why cant ours ?
