SAVE MELROSE PLACE

The Issue

Melrose Place is a residential community of approximately 50 single homes located in Blandon, PA.  There are two small commercial strip malls that border the front of the development and two additional commercial lots at the entrance of the community that have yet to be developed. These empty lots are owned by Folino Homes Inc. development company.

At the August meeting of the Maiden Creek Township Board of Supervisors, Folino Homes is applying to change the commercial zoning to residential zoning in the undeveloped lots of the community. Plans for three four-story apartment complexes and a strip of townhomes have been proposed, which incorporate 87 units in total.

The addition of these apartments and townhomes would significantly effect the residents of Melrose Place. We are already combating flooding issues within the development due to improper grading and drainage. The amount of traffic on and off Park Road would significantly increase. With only one entrance and exit into the development, this would cause a traffic nightmare both on Park Road and in Melrose Place. In addition, 87 units would greatly effect the school district and the enrollment in the Elementary schools. Not only could it require additional school buildings to the district, but also raise taxes for all of Fleetwood School District residents. While these are only a few issues, they effect not only Melrose Place residents but the residents of Blandon and the surrounding areas.

The residents of Melrose Place take pride in our beautiful, quiet community. We built our homes because of the small size and ability for our children to play outside safety without the hustle and bustle of busy streets. Please support us in our endeavor to save our community. Vote no to rezoning from commercial to residential in Melrose Place.
