Hi all,
We would like to give you a final update on the progress of the petition.
Unfortunately, we have just been informed this issue will never progress unless we have the full support of our local councillors.460 signatures in favour of the gate's removal (or at least extending the closing to 12.30am), and only 11 people signing the original agreement for this gate to remain in place. The minority rules for the time being.
The bottom line locally is that Paul Mulville supported us in the Fingal County Council Chamber. However, we did not receive the same response from Adrian Henchy or Fianna Fáil.
In conclusion, this issue cannot be left to the same group of people to pursue. If Beverton Residents in support of the petition are really serious about changing the current situation, they need to be more active and unified and pressurise Fingal CoCo for change.
We would like to thank those who have signed the petition to date.
Unfortunately, the incidence of young people injuring themselves while climbing the gate have increased but this does not seem to concern Fingal County Council who informed us at our last meeting are well covered on the insurance front. The main point of contact in Fingal County Council is Mick Carroll should you wish to ask why your signature was not acted upon by the Council. His email is as follows:

It is unfortunate that it has come to this point but in our opinion the secretary of the Ballisk Residents Association could have shown some goodwill to his fellow Beverton residents who have no problem with the increased footfall in our estate with the recently opened Newbridge House entrance. To agree to change the closing time to 12.30am from 10.30pm is not too much to ask and gives Beverton residents a reasonable timeframe to reach their homes safely.
Should anyone have any opinions / ideas on this issue please do not hesitate to contact us.
Many thanks.
